It was May 1, 2015 approximately 10:36am. I'm at work sitting at my desk laughing and joking with my co-worker, and my cellphone starts to ring. It's my grandmother! I answer the phone with a smile 😊 "HELLO" *Screaming* All I hear is her screaming *Nafisah he won't wake up* 😳 *Nafisah I can't get him to wake up. EUREE! GET UP!* *Something is wrong*
I hang up the phone and run as fast as I can to my car out of my office building. As I'm driving towards home I get another call, this time it's my mother. "Nafisah he's breathing but something is wrong, your aunt just rushed him to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia"
I do a U-turn and start doing 80 down Spruce Street. I was going so fast that I ended up directly behind my aunts car, I could see my little brother holding my son in his arms from the back window.
I finally get to Euree and I see try to stand him up but he can't speak, stand or open his eyes.
FAST FORWARD a few hours.... The doctor says "He had an unexplainable seizure, which happens sometimes. He is sleeping now and when he wakes up he should be back to his normal self. I'll get the discharge papers ready for you."
Euree wakes up and he is back to his normal self but is confused as to how he got to the hospital. As Euree, his dad and I play around and talk while waiting for the discharge papers, Euree falls and goes into another Grand Mal seizure.
As the doctors and nurses rushed in, at that very moment I felt like the world stopped. All I could do was scream and cry at the same time. How does one explain the reason for a completely healthy little boy, having not one but two Grand Mal seizures in one day? After the second seizure the doctor decided they were going to admit him and run test to find the cause of these unexplained seizures.
They ran multiple test (EEG, CT- Scan, MRI) which concluded that Euree was indeed having abnormal brain activity. That day Euree was diagnosed with EPILEPSY.
